Carry on rainbow rowell the mage series#
There are many references to the Harry Potter series in the novel Fangirl. The " Simon Snow" series is (not confirmed but evidence tells us otherwise) based on J.K.Cath's Fanfiction novel is called Carry On. As each chapter begins with either a quote from one of the books (shown above) or a quote from one of Cather's fanfictions, the Simon Snow series and Cather are connected over and over again as the book progresses. The Simon Snow series shows the dedication of Cather Avery, the main character, and also helps guide Cather as she goes through the difficulties of college. The fantasy aspect is not heavy at all, so I think anyone who doesn’t even like fantasy, would enjoy it. I was so encaptured in each page, and just read through it all so quickly. Overall, I really did love this novel, and I would recommend it to anyone who just wants a lighthearted, fun fantasy read. I definitely liked the setup and writing style this book had and, surprisingly, the perspective changes did not bother me (even though they usually do). The author did such a great job at describing what the characters were like, the bonds they formed with each other, and did such a fantastic job with connecting her readers to the story. The relationships between them all were so great, even the ones who didn’t get along. I really formed a reading bond with them all, and connected to each deeply, that I was very sad once I finished the book. The characters in this novel were honestly the best, and I found myself laughing way too many times to count. I didn’t mind it though, because during that time, I was getting closer to all of the characters, and understanding the world the author layed out.Ī bit of a disclaimer though, you may not be as interested at the beginning, because as you know from the synopsis, Baz does not show up in the beginning Just have patience thought. Now, that doesn’t mean those first one hundred pages weren’t good, because I honestly breezed through them but Simon does take the time, during the first couple of chapters, to kind of explain what’s going on, and what the whole world is like. It was very easy for me to get into, but I found myself immediately engrossed about one hundred pages into the book.

Surprisingly, even though I am normally not a fan of novels with changing perspectives, I really enjoyed this book. It’s very action packed, and there is always something constantly happening. Now, that was a very long overview (refer above), but to be honest, it’s extremely hard to sum up this novel.

Carry On (Simon Snow #1) by Rainbow Rowell was such a refreshing, carefree, undemanding, and warm hearted read, told from multiple perspectives: Simon, Baz, Penelope, Agatha, The Mage, etc.
